82 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Defence when recruitment to the Naval Service will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
As I announced recently, the 1994 Estimate for Defence provides for the enlistment of 500 recruits for the Permanent Defence Force. In assigning the new recruits, priority will be given to operational units of the Army and the Naval Service. It is intended that the first intake will take place as early as possible in the New Year. Details of how to apply will be advertised in the near future.
