Vol. 437 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

82 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not received his 1993 special beef premium; the amount due; and when payment will be issued.

Assuming the application of the person named for grants under the January-February 1993 special beef premium scheme is in order a 60 per cent advance amounting to £2,847.42 as provided in EU Regulations will be paid shortly.

Payment for the June 1993 special beef premium has not been issued to the above herdowner as he had submitted two female identity cards with his application. This necessitated further investigation. However, the matter has now been satisfactorily resolved and payment will be made shortly.

Ceist:

88 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of ten month special beef premium applications and 22 month special beef premium applications received during 1993 from applicants in each of the Dáil Constituencies of Cork East and Cork North-West; and the total of cattle claimed for.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 83, 84, 85 and 88 together. Statistics on ewe premium, special beef premium and suckler cow premium schemes are kept on a county basis. I regret that it is not possible to give statistics on a constituency basis.

The numbers of applications received in respect of the ten month special beef premium and the 22 month special beef premium in County Cork for the January-February and June 1993 application periods were 3,797 and 10,213 respectively. Details in respect of applications for the November 1993 application period are not yet available.

The number of applications received under the 1993 ewe premium scheme in County Cork was 3,089. The number of applicants who had flocks in excess of 100 was 1,025.

The total number of applications received under the 1993 suckler cow scheme in County Cork was 6,247.

Statistics in relation to herd sizes of the applicants and the number of animals claimed for under the suckler cow and special beef premium schemes will not be available for some time.
