176 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education the number of students currently studying music in third level colleges; and the number who applied for entry to music colleges in each of the years 1989 to 1993.
The number of students studying music in third level colleges for the 1993/94 academic year is 413.
In applying for entry to courses under the CAO/CAS system applicants may list their course preference in order from one to 20. Details for applicants for the 1989/93 period therefore are shown as the total number of applicants received who listed music under any preference and the number of applicants who listed music as their first preference.
