Ceist:190 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Education if she intends to allow increments for temporary whole-time teachers in the vocational education committee system who have been over five years in temporary whole-time employment.

In the case of temporary whole time teachers in the employment of vocational education committees who are fully qualified for an equivalent permanent wholetime post, service as a temporary whole-time teacher prior to 1 September 1988 may be reckoned for incremental purposes up to a maximum of five years and service as a temporary whole-time teacher from 1 September 1988 may be reckoned in full.
I have no plans to extend this provision to temporary wholetime teachers who are not fully qualified for permanent wholetime appointment.
