Vol. 440 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ailsa Lodge, Rosslare (Wexford) Harbour.

Ceist:

47 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Finance his intentions regarding the Ailsa Lodge site at Rosslare Harbour, County Wexford; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this site is in a disgraceful condition and a blight on the vicinity; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that by the neglect of this property, his Department is impeding the efforts of the local and active tidy town committee in its efforts; if he intends to sell the site; if so, the length of time that this has been his intention; if any progress has been made on the matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The leasehold title to this site is vested in the Commissioners of Public Works. It has been established that the site is surplus to State requirements and the Commissioners are awaiting from the Office of the Chief State Solicitor contract documentation required for its disposal by public competition on the open market.

The Commissioners will, in the interim, consider what steps, if any, might be taken to improve the appearance of the property, prior to sale.
