Vol. 441 No. 1

Written Answers. - Area Aid Applications.

Jim O'Keeffe

Ceist:

125 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the arrangements, if any, that will be put in place for farmers filing aid applications who are unable to obtain their maps from the relevant State agencies prior to the extended closing date of 29 April 1994; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

All 1994 area aid applications from farmers declaring forage area only should be submitted to my Department on or before closing date of 29 April 1994 together with supporting maps. Where maps are submitted with the area aid applications those applications can be processed without any undue delay so as not to hinder payment under livestock aid schemes later in 1994.

Where farmers are unable to obtain the required maps from the relevant State agencies in time to submit them with their area aid applications on or before 29 April 1994, they should ensure

(a) that their area aid applications are lodged with my Department on or before 29 April,

(b) that they obtain, complete and forward to my Department the maps required as soon as possible after that date.

The absence of the required maps will lead to delay in processing the area aid applications. It is in the interest of every farmer, therefore, to forward his-her area aid application together with supporting maps. Where the maps cannot be submitted with an application, however, the above arrangements will allow acceptance by my Department of the area aid application before 29 April 1994 but the required maps should be submitted as soon as possible thereafter.
