In July of last year, I had the pleasure of announcing with the Taoiseach that the sum of £330,000 was being made available for Phase 1 of works to Geneval's Tower at Ross Road and that Dublin Corporation had agreed to become guardians of this site under the National Monuments Acts. Phase 1 of the works, involving preservation of the monument, has been substantially completed. Some upgrading of the mechanical and technical services will be completed shortly and arrangements are being made for Dublin Corporation to take a lease of the property.
Further funding of £100,000 has been committed for Phase 2 of the works which will involve the provision of public access to the monument in the context of Dublin Corporation's plans for this area. As regards interpretative work, whether visual or audiovisual, this will be a matter for Dublin Corporation when public access has been provided.
