Ceist:12 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Defence when the new uniforms for the Air Corps will be introduced; and whether this is a prelude to separating the Air Corps from the Army.

The new uniform for the Air Corps will be introduced later this year. Both the Army and the Air Corps are designated as compenents of the Permanent Defence Force in accordance with the Defence Act, 1954; the introduction of the new uniform for the Air Corps will not affect this designation.
This new uniform is to be issued on my instructions. I consider that its introduction is appropriate to give the Air Corps its own distinct identity.
