I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: Deputy Frances Fitzgerald — the sale of cigarettes to under-age children; Deputy Crowley — the need to assign additional staff to the Land Registry to alleviate major delays in the transfer of property which are causing problems in both the commercial and private sectors; Deputy Broughan — the ugent need to designate Swansnest Court, Kilbarrack, Dublin 13, as part of the 1994 public housing refurbishment programme; Deputy Jim Higgins — the financial difficulties being encountered by livestock farmers as a result of the non-payment of millions of pounds owing under various livestock grants schemes; and the need to pay all outstanding grants before the end of this week in order to avert a wholesale catastrophe for such farmers; Deputy Allen — the apparent conflict between the settlement recently arrived at in relation to cases brought by free legal aid centres on behalf of 1,800 women for social welfare equality payments and previous statements in the matter made by the Minister for Social Welfare; Deputy Crawford — the provision of funding for a water supply to Monaghan town, either by North Monaghan Deep Well Systems or from the existing Kilkitt scheme in mid-Monaghan; and when this scheme will begin; Deputy Batt O'Keeffe — the need to restore the district court sitting to Ballincollig community centre, County Cork, as the present arrangement is proving unsatisfactory; Deputy De Rossa — the decision of the Department of Social Welfare to settle out of court a claim made on behalf of 1,800 women for arrears of social welfare alleviation payments; and the implications of this decision for other women in similar circumstances; Deputy Deenihan — the proposed amalgamation of Moyderwell and Balloonagh convent secondary schools, County Kerry; Deputy Harney — the steps being taken to ensure the continuation of Irish beef exports to Germany; and the efforts being taken to assure the German Government and people that there is no risk of BSE from Irish beef; Deputy Avril Doyle — the alarming reports of pending German legislation this month to ban Irish beef from the German market and Deputy Power — the proposed sale of Harold Cross Greyhound Stadium. I have selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Allen, Jim Higgins, Harney and Avril Doyle.
