Vol. 441 No. 2

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 8, 1 and 2. It is also proposed, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders, that (1) the proceedings on the Committee and Remaining Stages of No. 8, if not previously concluded, shall be brought to a conclusion at 7 p.m. by one question which shall be put from the Chair and which shall, in relation to amendments, include only those set down or accepted by the Minister for Justice and (2) Private Members' Business shall be No. 12 and the proceedings thereon shall be brought to a conclusion at 8.30 p.m.

Is the proposal on No. 8 satisfactory and agreed?

I regret that I have to oppose the arrangements for the taking of No. 8 today to allow time for a debate on whether Irish farmers and fishermen are to be the first casualties of the ill-will generated by the Government over the £8 billion——

The Deputy may not make a speech at this stage.

——in light of reports that Spanish and Portuguese boats are to be allowed to over-fish our waters and Germany to restrict Irish beef exports.

I take it that the proposal is being opposed?
