Vol. 441 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

105 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not been paid the January 1993 22-month beef premium and the June 1993 10-month beef premium; the amount due to the person in respect of each scheme; when payment will issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named applied for grants on 33 animals under the January/February 1993 special beef premium scheme. However, this application was rejected when subjected to a computer validation check. The problem is being dealt with at present and if the application is found in order following a further computer validation check an advance payment in respect of all eligible animals found will be made shortly. It is not possible at this stage to state what the precise amount payment will be.

The person named applied for grants on 24 animals under the June 1993 10 month special beef premium scheme. However, it was found that premium had already been paid in respect of 22 of these animals. An advance payment of approximately £63 in respect of the two remaining animals will be made shortly.

The person named is also an applicant for special beef premium in November 1993. Payment of balances due cannot be made until all applications received from her in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

Ceist:

106 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will review and approve applications by a person (details supplied) in County Cork for the December 1992 10 month beef premium and the January 1993 and February 1993 22-month premia which were refused on grounds of age inconsistency in view of correspondence which shows that concessions on age inconsistency problems have now been granted by his Department.

The person named applied for the December 1992 special beef premium in respect of 53 animals and payment was made on 3 June 1993. He applied for the January/ February 1993 special beef premium in respect of 41 animals but payment was rejected on the grounds of age inconsistency. Due to recently announced concessions his application is being reconsidered and if found in order payment will be made shortly.
