Ceist:96 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will seek EU funding for a waste processing facility in County Monaghan in view of the results of the recent farm waste study.

The priority areas in my Department's proposals under the National Development Plan for EU Structural Funding in the period 1994-99 include the development of the food industry, on-farm investment aimed at improved competitiveness and dairy hygiene standards, pollution control measures, headage payments in support of incomes of farmers in disadvantaged areas and various rural development and forestry measures. The proposals do not encompass EU aid for a farm waste processing facility.
