Vol. 442 No. 4

Written Answers. - Gorey (Wexford) School.

Ceist:

101 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Education the progress to date in relation to all outstanding grants, moneys and works planned for Ballyoughter national school, Gorey, County Wexford, by her Department; the date of application by the school in relation to each grant; the building works, if any, that are in progress or planned by her for Ballyoughter national school; if she will give details of such works; the planned timeframe for the work; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Grant-aid was approved for replacement windows in August 1988 for Ballyoughter national school, Gorey, County Wexford. The school authorities did not avail of the approved grant at that time. However, my understanding is that the windows have since been replaced and my Department has informed the school authorities that a retrospective grant will be considered on receipt of certification of the work from my professional advisers. Receipts were received on 4 May 1994.

Grant applications for pump and burner, new furniture and floor repairs were received in my Department on 3 February 1994, 17 February 1994 and 11 March 1994 respectively. My Department sanctioned a grant for roof repairs and internal upgrading on 23 December 1993. A decision on all grants will be conveyed to the school authorities at an early date.
