188 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Health the hourly rate for part-time personnel providing the home help service in the Mid-Western Health Board area; and the average payment made to them.

189 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Health the number of part-time help personnel in the Mid-Western Health Board area for County Limerick, Limerick city, Clare and north Tipperary at March 1994; and the number who are availing of this service at these four locations.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 188 and No. 189 together.

The hourly rate for part-time home helps in the Mid-Western Health Board area is £2.40. The average payment is £24 per week.

The service, as provided in the Mid-Western Health Board area, is based on three Community Care Areas, Clare Community Care Area, Limerick Community Care Area (consisting of Limerick City and County but excluding a small part of East Limerick), and Tipperary North Community Care Area (which includes a small part of East Limerick).

The following table sets out the number of part-time home helps and the numbers availing of this service in the three Community Care Areas:
