17 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the steps, if any, he intends to take to facilitate the preservation of Kilmacurragh House, County Wicklow, and its arboretum in view of its importance in terms of the culture and heritage of the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Ceist:

71 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht in view of his announcement earmarking funds for garden restoration and recognising the importance of gardens to our tourist industry, if he will consider the acquisition of Kilmacurragh House in County Wicklow as a unique garden and arboretum.

Tógfaidh mé Ceist Uimh. 17 agus Ceist Scríofa Uimh. 71 le chéile.

I understand that application for grant assistance from the owner of Kilmacurragh House was received by the National Heritage Council in respect of the restoration of the building and the gardens. However, it has recently been learned that the property has been put up for sale and in the circumstances it would be inappropriate for the council to make any recommendation.
