45 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the total number of people convicted of a road traffic offence; the number of parking offences; the alternative method, if any, she is considering to address parking offences; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
Details of the numbers of persons convicted under various provisions of the Road Traffic Acts may be found in the Garda Commissioner's Annual Reports on Crime — copies of which are in the Oireachtas Library. The 1993 report will be published shortly. The effectiveness of methods of enforcing parking regulations are considered on a regular basis by my Department in consultation with the Garda authorities and the Department of the Environment.
