Ceist:56 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of fertiliser samples taken for the last year for which records are available; the number found deficient; and the action, if any, that was taken.
Written Answers. - Fertiliser Samples.
Three hundred and ninety seven (397) samples were taken by authorised officers and analysed by the State Laboratory for the year ending 30 September 1993. Thirty of these samples were found to be at variance with the statutory standards. The manufacturers of the deficient samples were contacted and required to give an explanation in each case. My Department is also in regular touch with the fertiliser trade regarding the means of ensuring that statutory standards are met at all times.
