Vol. 444 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sarsfield Barracks, Limerick.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

84 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Defence the plans, if any, he has to develop the blocked up living accommodation at Sarsfield Barracks, Limerick; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this quasi derelict building is now causing concern in the neighbourhood; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Arising from the policy of phasing out the use of old-type married quarters accommodation, the building referred to was vacated some years ago. Because, however, of the good stone structure of the building it was decided not to demolish it on the basis that it might have some possible future use. A number of suggestions have been made and I have directed that the matter be brought to a conclusion as soon as possible.
