Vol. 444 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin School.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

143 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education if she will ensure that Coláiste Caoimhín, Dublin 12, is developed as an all-Irish secondary school for Dublin in view of the fact that there is a demand for such a development.

The school referred to by the Deputy is a voluntary secondary school. The school's trustees have been phasing out the school for the last few years with final closure to take place at the end of the current school year.

With regard to the use of Coláiste Caoimhín as an all-Irish secondary school, the disposal of the school property in question is a matter for the owners, the Christian Brothers, in the first instance. I should add that no application has been received in my Department for the development of an all-Irish secondary school in the Crumlin area.
