Vol. 444 No. 5

Written Answers. - Competition Eligibility Regulations.

Seán Ryan

Ceist:

30 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Finance if he will make a statement on the application in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin under the Civil Service Commission competition for Executive Officer, with particular reference to the educational requirements.

The eligibility requirements as set out in the regulations governing a competition conducted by the Civil Service Commissioners must be complied with in full if a candidate is to be considered for appointment. The regulations are made under the Civil Service Commissioners Act 1956 and are binding on the Commissioners themselves.

The case in question was the subject of detailed and careful consideration but the candidate did not comply with the requirements of the regulations in relation to the educational qualifications for the competition. The candidate was clearly notified by the Civil Service Commission at that time and subsequently regarding this decision.
