Vol. 444 No. 5

Written Answers. - Government Decentralisation Programme.

Dan Wallace

Ceist:

37 Mr. D. Wallace asked the Minister for Social Welfare in relation to State bodies under the aegis of his Department, the number and location of posts that have been transferred from Dublin under the Government's decentralisation programme since 1987, the number of persons who transferred from Dublin to those locations; and the proposals, if any, there are for further decentralisation.

Under the Government's decentralisation programme there has been, to date, no relocation of State bodies under the aegis of my Department. There are no plans for such decentralisation. Substantial blocks of my Department's administration have been decentralised to Sligo, Letterkenny and Longford and we have also set-up a regional and localised service.
