Vol. 444 No. 6

Written Answers. - Driving Test Centre Staffing.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

121 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment the arrangements, if any, that were made by his Department at the Castlebar Driving Test Centre, County Mayo, for the month of May when the existing personnel were not available to carry out scheduled driving tests; and the arrangements, if any, that have been made for such future circumstances.

During the month of May, 210 tests were arranged for the Castlebar centre of which 27 were not carried out because of the non-availability of a tester. 15 of these tests have since been carried out and a further 11 will be carried out this week. The remaining applicant is not available for testing until July.

Where a driver tester is unable to fulfil test appointments, every effort is made to have the tests carried out by another tester at the appointed times. Where this is not possible, the tests are rearranged for an early date.
