Vol. 444 No. 6

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Connaughton — the lack of funding for the Williamstown sewerage scheme, County Galway, and the progress, if any, to date on the matter; (2) Deputy Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny)— the treatment of a person (details supplied) in County Carlow by the Southern Health Board and the Department of Health; (3) Deputy Deenihan — the sale of Dromore Castle, Kenmare, County Kerry, with a potential loss of £180,000 of taxpayers' money; (4) Deputy Eamon Ó Cuíiv — whether funds will be provided for the improvement of the N84 from Galway as far as the county border in Shrule in view of the poor condition of and volume of traffic on the road; (5) Deputy Jim Higgins — the need to appoint a consultant rheumatologist at Mayo General Hospital; (6) Deputy McGrath — repeated violent incidents in College Park, Athlone, County Westmeath, in particular an incident last week involving the discharging of guns in the estate; (7) Deputy Allen — the refusal to provide funding to Cork Corporation to facilitate completion of unfinished building projects in the city in view of the fact that some householders have been waiting ten years for works to be completed as a result of defective bonds and the failure of the corporation to claim bonds; (8) Deputy ÓDonnell — the need for action in the case of the 2,170 persons awaiting speech therapy in the Eastern Health Board area, some of whom have been waiting for over a year; (9) Deputy Durkan — the need for funding to be made available to avert the closure of the Centre for Independent Living and to enable the organisation to continue providing vital care and attention for the disabled and the handicapped.

The matters raised by the following have been selected for discusion:— Deputies McGrath, Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny), O'Donnell and Durkan.
