Vol. 444 No. 6

Written Answers. - Health and Safety Authority.

Mary Flaherty

Ceist:

19 Miss Flaherty asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he has satisfied himself that the level of staffing in the Health and Safety Authority is adequate for its increasing workload.

I am aware of the workload imposed on the Health and Safety Authority under the provisions of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989. For this reason I am pleased to say that I have succeeded in obtaining the approval of the Minister for Finance for the appointment of 14 additional staff members to the authority. The recruitment of these staff is taking place at present and a number of positions have already been filled. The staffing position of the authority is kept under ongoing review.
