Vol. 444 No. 6

Written Answers. - Corporation Profits Tax.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

66 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the assessment, if any, he has made of the proposal that certain State agencies should designate service activities that would qualify for the 10 per cent corporation profit tax rate; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Presumably the Deputy is referring to the proposal in the report of the Task Force on Jobs in Services, recommending that consideration be given to changing the rate of corporation tax in respect of certain designated activities in the service sector.

Various options were considered in the context of the 1994 Finance Act, but no changes were introduced. This work will be continuing with a view to proposals being made for the next Finance Act. The Small Business and Services Division which I recently established will be involved in this work.
