Vol. 444 No. 7

Written Answers. - Car Parking Problem.

Hugh Byrne

Ceist:

145 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the car parking congestion problem at Wexford General Hospital, particularly during visiting hours; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that the overflow of cars is being parked on a national primary route; his views on whether this problem might be solved by giving over areas now landscaped to car parking; if he will suggest such a solution to this problem to the South Eastern Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board in the first instance. I have had inquiries made of the South Eastern Health Board and I understand that staff at Wexford General Hospital are at present using the car park at the front of the hospital. I have been informed that arrangements are being made at Wexford General Hospital to provide a staff car park at the rear of the hospital. This should alleviate the problem of car parking congestion during visiting hours.
