156 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if an application has been received from Maynooth primary school, County Kildare, for grant assistance under her Department's recreational facilities scheme; if she will favourably consider the application in the current year; her views on the merits of the submission; if an award will be made to the school under this or any other heading in the current year; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has no record of receiving an application from Maynooth primary school, County Kildare under the recreational facilities scheme. All applications received under the scheme are currently under consideration by my Department. The recreational facilities scheme provides grant assistance to voluntary community organisations for the provision of and improvements to recreational, leisure and community facilities. School projects are not normally grant aided under the scheme.
