Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Deasy — the continued interruption of transmission of RTE 1 and Network 2 signals in the west Waterford region, particularly in the towns of Cappoquin, Lismore and Tallow; (2) Deputy Connaughton — the lack of funding for the Williamstown sewerage scheme, County Galway, and the progress, if any, to date on the matter; (3) Deputy Jim Higgins — the need to appoint a consultant rheumatologist at Mayo General Hospital; (4) Deputy Deenihan — the problems faced by a large number of students who will be unable to pursue a higher education diploma course in September 1994 despite the fact that they have made arrangements with schools; (5) Deputy Allen — the refusal to provide funding to Cork Corporation to facilitate completion of unfinished building projects in the city in view of the fact that some householders have been waiting ten years for works to be completed as a result of defective bonds and the failure of the corporation to claim bonds; (6) Deputy Ring — the urgent need to make the necessary funds available to the relevant local fisheries authority to restore fish stocks in the light of the recent fish kill on the Carrowbeg River, Westport, County Mayo; (7) Deputy Enda Kenny — the case of a doctor (details supplied) who worked in a hospital in early 1990 and who has received no remuneration for his services; (8) Deputy Ó Cuív — An gá atá ann le scéimeanna uisce réigiúnacha i gceantar Charna/Cill Chiaráin I gContae na Gaillimhe; agus an gá go dtiocfaí ar aghaidh leis an scéim uisce réigiúnach I gceantar Ros Muc; (9) Deputy Penrose — the need for immediate approval of the Mullingar regional water supply northwestern low level section, County Westmeath, which has been awaiting sanction by the Department of the Environment since June 1991, in view of the deteriorating situation in the Ballynacargy area and the serious implications for residents; (10) Deputy Durkan — the subject matter of parliamentary questions Nos. 138 and 139 for answer today, 30 June 1994; (11) Deputy de Valera — the serious situation facing 25 people in the Incare programme given the fact that the Horizon programme set up two years ago to provide personal assistants to the disabled is to cease due to lack of funding; (12) Deputy Quill — whether it is intended to extend the deadline of 30 June in relation to Irish Steel in view of the prospect of significant progress in the talks; and the other initiatives it is proposed to take to expedite a satisfactory solution to the problems of the company.

The matters raised by Deputies Connaughton, Allen, Deasy and Quill have been selected for discussion.
