Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - Technical Assistance.

John Bruton

Ceist:

183 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice the detailed terms and conditions under which her Department received technical assistance amounting to £5,000; if she will give details of each project for which it was used; if a copy of the study or studies carried out was supplied to the European Commission; if a copy is available for inspection by members of the public; and, if not, the reason therefor. [147/94]

My Department received £5,000 in EU aid for technical assistance under the NOW initiative. The funding was used in respect of one project only. This project, entitled WAGE, aims to provide training, information and guidance for women in trouble with the law.

A feasibility study on the project was carried out in June-July 1992 and final approval issued in March 1993 through the Department of Enterprise and Employment which is responsible for the national co-ordination of the NOW programme. The feasibility study was prepared to assist the case for funding for the project and was not intended for publication.
