Michael Bell

Ceist:

185 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has for the provision of a new court building for Drogheda, County Louth, in view of the fact that a suitable site has been offered by Drogheda Corporation/LCC; her views on whether the conditions under which the present court has to operate is suitable for the presiding judges, practitioners, the general public and for a town which is the largest borough in the country; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [190/94]

Ceist:

188 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice her views on whether there is a need for a new courthouse for the town of Drogheda, County Louth, which is the largest borough in the country; if she has decided to accept the offer by the Louth County Manager of a site in a suitable and prominent area adjacent to the Garda Barracks and other central facilities; when she will sanction the provision of a new courthouse; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [299/94]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 185 and 188 together.

The matter of courthouse facilities in Drogheda was before the High Court last Friday and at the request of the applicants it was agreed to have the matter adjourned. I do not propose to comment until such time as the High Court has reached a decision in the case.
