Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Advisers.

Mary Harney

Ceist:

223 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the number of consultants, special advisers or programme managers retained by his Department since this Government took office; the nature of the work they have undertaken; and the cost of their services. [782/94]

Since this Government took office my Department has retained one programme manager and three special advisers.

The programme manager has been responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Programme for a Partnership Government in my Department, which has involved liaising with departmental officials and programme managers in other Departments. The three special advisers have been involved in the provision of advice and assistance to myself and the two Ministers of State in my Department.

It is estimated that the cost to my Department of the services of the four advisers, including salary, travel and all overheads, will be approximately £247,000 in 1994.
