Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ministerial Official Visits.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

326 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the official journeys abroad which will be undertaken by him or any Minister of State attached to his Department between now and the end of the year; the purpose of each journey; and the projected cost of each journey. [636/94]

At present I anticipate the following journeys abroad between now and the end of the year:

(1) Dublin — Luxembourg via Paris at the invitation of the French Minister for Agriculture for a meeting there with him prior to our attendance at the Council of Ministers meeting (Luxembourg) and the SIAL Food Fair (Paris). The Minister of State may also travel to Paris to attend the SIAL Food Fair.

(2) Two journeys: Dublin — Brussels, to attend the Council of Ministers meetings.

The projected cost of these journeys is approximately £3,400 including subsistence and hotel accommodation costs. This estimate is based on commercial air flights; if, however, the Government jet is used the costs to my Department would be reduced significantly.
