Paul McGrath

Ceist:

478 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education the number of teachers, students, clerical staff and schools for each V.E.C. respectively at September 1993 and September 1994; and the total budget for each of those education authorities. [359/94]

The information requested by the Deputy follows.

In the context of the 1994 information the following clarification is provided:

Teachers refer to teacher numbers, wholetime equivalent, allocated for full-time day courses in the 1994-95 academic year; Students refer to students enrolled on full-time day courses in the 1993-94 academic year — enrolment figures for the 1994-95 academic year are not yet available; budgets, which comprise the grant from the Department and the receipts of each committee, include the financial allocations made to date including instruction pay for October, 1994. These budgets are subject to adjustment for instruction pay for the months of November and December, 1994 and for payments made/to be made in respect of the following schemes/programmes from 1 July to 31 December, 1994: (1) scholarship scheme, (2) transition year resource grant, (3) school books scheme, (4) youthreach programmes, (5) vocational training opportunities scheme, (6) adult literacy and community education schemes, (7) youth and sport, and (8) miscellaneous.
