Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - Public House Licences.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

130 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Finance the number of licences for public houses based on each of the six categories of rates of duty which were renewed on 1 October 1993; and the number in each category which were not renewed by that date. [178/94]

I presume that the Deputy's question relates to the number of publicans' licences by each category of duty which were issued in respect of the 1993-94 licensing year (i.e. 1 October, 1993 to 30 September, 1994) and also the number which were not renewed during that year. The following is the number of licences by category of duty issued in respect of the 1993-94 licensing year.

A total of 385 publicans who held licences for the 1992-93 licensing year did not renew their licences for the 1993-94 licensing year. Information about the category of duty into which those licences fell in the 1992-93 licensing year is not immediately available but I will arrange to have the information forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible.
