Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - Civil Servant's Service Record.

Alan M. Dukes

Ceist:

139 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Finance the service record of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 from her secondment of the Department of Education from his Department in September 1987 to her resignation from the Civil Service in August 1993; if it was in keeping with normal practice that his Department sought or received advice from a psychologist who had been privately consulted by this person; if this person was advised to leave the Civil Service under a redundancy scheme in 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [399/94]

The officer concerned, who was an Assistant Principal in my Department, was seconded to the Department of Education from September 1987 to March 1988. On her return to my Department she was assigned to Finance Division (EC Section), and served there until her retirement.

My Department did not seek or receive advice from a psychologist in relation to the officer concerned. In November 1992 the officer did, however, send me a copy of a psychologist's report dated June 1992.

In 1992, my Department outlined to the officer her entitlements in regard to voluntary early retirement. The officer took voluntary early retirement in August 1993.
