Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Dermot Ahern

Ceist:

150 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the present position regarding the proposed decentralised office building in Dundalk, County Louth; when it will commence; the Departments that are to be housed there; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [859/94]

The present position concerning the decentralisation programme to Dundalk is that a total of 85 staff of the Revenue Commissioners have already moved and are in temporary accommodation. The question of designating a section of another Department to make up the overall target figure for Dundalk of up to 150 staff is at an advanced stage of consideration.

The decentralised staff will be located in a new building at Newry Road where a site is available. Following a public advertisement, a number of developers applied to be included on a short list of those specially invited to submit their proposals for the building. This list will shortly be finalised. Drawing up of the plans for the building will commence as soon as the final brief is received from the designated Departments.
