Vol. 446 No. 3

Written Answers. - Status of American Citizens.

Eoin Ryan

Ceist:

59 Mr. E. Ryan asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has to review the status of American citizens living in Ireland for a number of years who have applied for citizenship or work permits in view of the number of Irish citizens given green cards in the United States of America. [274/94]

Each application for naturalisation, irrespective of the nationality of the applicant, is considered on its merits in accordance with the provisions of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Acts, 1956 and 1986. The issue of work permits is a matter for my colleague, the Minister for Enterprise and Employment.
