Vol. 446 No. 3

Written Answers. - Implications of Human Rights Commission Decision.

John Bruton

Ceist:

160 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice the implications of the European Commission of Human Rights decision on a case (details supplied) for the proposed reform to fraud law in Ireland. [1998/94]

Work is progressing in my Department on the preparation of legislation based on the recommendations of the report of the Government Advisory Committee on Fraud and the Law Reform Commission report on the law relating to Dishonesty (LRC 43-1992). The report of the European Commission of Human Rights in the case referred to in the question is being examined for any implications it may have for the legislation at present being prepared.
