Vol. 446 No. 6

Written Answers. - Vesting of Commonage.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

167 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the present position in relation to a person (details supplied) who had applied to the Land Commission in Cavan to have a certain commonage vested in the names of the shareholders; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2712/94]

The shares in this commonage are vested in the shareholders and registered on their folios as undivided shares. The Land Commission formulated a scheme to divide the commonage at the request of the shareholders and in 1987 all of the shareholders signed agreements consenting to the scheme. The commonage was divided on the ground and the next step was to vest the shareholders as owners of the defined plots in place of the undivided shares. Subsequently a dispute arose between the shareholders. As the scheme is a voluntary scheme the resolution of this dispute was left to the shareholders. Earlier this year the Land Commission was informed that the dispute had been resolved and it is, at present, working on the scheme with a view to registering the division as soon as possible.
