Vol. 446 No. 6

Written Answers. - VAT Yield.

Michael McDowell

Ceist:

67 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Finance the estimated yield to the Exchequer in 1994 to 1995 of charging VAT at 10 per cent on food and drink, oral medicines, fertilisers, clothing and footwear for children, marine safety services, zero-rated books and booklets and medical equipment and appliances which are currently zero-rated goods and services. [2554/94]

I assume the Deputy's question relates to the estimated yield which would result from charging VAT at 10 per cent on those goods and services listed by him and which are currently zero rated. The latest available information is in respect of the year 1994 and the estimated yield is £351 million.
