126 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for the Environment when he will introduce legislation to give effect to urban and corporation boundary changes made before the 1994 local elections; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2691/94]
The next step in relation to the reorganisation of town local government will involve the establishment of the Local Government Reorganisation Commission under the Local Government Act, 1994. The commission will be established shortly. The whole question of town local authority functions, financial, staffing and related matters and future arrangements as regards the areas recently added for local electoral purposes, will be considered in the light of the commission's report which will be required to be made within 12 months.
