I am informed by the Garda authorities that a warrant for the arrest of the alleged culprit in this case has been issued in relation to a number of alleged offences. The Deputy will appreciate that, as this matter is subjudice, I am precluded from making any further comment on the incident.
With regard to the operation of the bail laws, the Law Reform Commission has been requested to examine the options that may be open in order to bring about a change in the law on bail. When the recommendations of the Law Reform Commission are to hand, they will be addressed as a matter of priority.
