190 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the estimated import by volume, value at the point of import and percentage of total ingredients of pig feed and all poultry feed used in Ireland in each of the years 1989 to 1994; and if he will list the ingredients involved. The estimated total imports of feed ingredients used in the manufacture of all animal feedingstuffs for the years in question and the value at the point of import were as follows:

The estimated volume and value of imports in respect of 1994 are not yet available. Approximately 15 per cent of all imported feeding ingredients is used in pig and poultry feed production. The following imported ingredients are normally used in the manufacture of compound pig and poultry diets: peas, manioc, wheat, barley, maize, soyabean meal, molasses, fish meal, maize gluten feed, maize germ meal and soya oil.
