Ceist:178 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Education the total resources provided through her Department for adult education, including the amount given to each vocational education committee for this in 1994. [2806/95]
Written Answers. - Adult Education.
Funding of £21.573 million was provided in 1994 in respect of the vocational training opportunities scheme, the adult literacy and community education scheme, special initiatives for disadvantaged adults and the training of adult education organisers.
Funding provided under other spending subheads is also expended on adult education but is not separately identifiable. It includes expenditure on adult education in third level institutions, administration in the headquarters and schools of vocational education Committees and in community and comprehensive schools, activities carried out by vocational education committees in co-operation with other bodies and administration in the Department.
