Vol. 448 No. 6

Written Answers. - Law and Order Problems.

Liam Lawlor

Ceist:

186 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Justice if she will discuss the law and order problems in a housing estate (details supplied) in Dublin 15 with senior Garda authorities with a view to bringing the lawbreakers to justice. [2477/95]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that local gardaí have received one complaint of criminal damage from the person concerned in the past six months. The complaint has been investigated but, to date, no one has been made amenable for the offence. The community gardaí for the area regularly visit the person in question to keep her appraised of any progress in the investigation.

With regard to the general local, I am informed that the number of community gardaí has increased recently and local gardaí are working on establishing close ties with statutory and voluntary agencies in the area so that an effective community-based approach to crime prevention and detection can be put in place.
