Vol. 448 No. 6

Written Answers. - New Health Authorities.

Peter Barry

Ceist:

83 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Health the discussions, if any, he has had with interested parties on the make up of the new health authorities announced in 1994; if the overall strategy has been advanced in any significant way; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2686/95]

Limerick East): Legislation will be brought forward under the programme for A Government of Renewal to facilitate the creation of new health board structures. Priority will be given to the reform of structures in the Eastern Health Board area. Officers of my Department have already met with interested parties including voluntary hospitals and mental handicap agencies to discuss the issue and I am committed to further consultation with the key participants involved before I submit my proposals to Government. If the Deputy requires additional information he can communicate further with me.
