90 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht his policy regarding granting greater autonomy to the National Gallery and the National Museum; when he proposes to introduce legislation to give effect to this greater autonomy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The National Gallery already has a broadly autonomous board structure and I have no plans at present to alter these arrangements. Proposals for legislation giving greater autonomy to the National Library and the National Museum are at an advanced stage of preparation in my Department and I hope to be able at an advanced stage of preparation in my Department and I hope to be able to submit them to Government for decision in the near future.
