Vol. 448 No. 6

Written Answers. - Group Water Schemes.

Mary Coughlan

Ceist:

102 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make available additional grant-aid and subventions for the provision of large group water schemes; and if his attention has been drawn to the delay due to the inadequate grant-aid now available. [2841/95]

Liam Hyland

Ceist:

121 Mr. Hyland asked the Minister for the Environment if sufficient money will be provided in his Department's 1995 Estimates for group water schemes awaiting his Department's approval. [2765/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 102 and 121 together.

A new measure on group schemes has been included in the Operational Programme for Environmental Services. This will make available some £10 million to meet the additional cost of providing upsized headworks and distribution systems for certain large group schemes essential for rural development. A total of £4.5 million, including provision in respect of the above, is contained in my Department's Estimate for group water scheme grants in 1995.
