Vol. 449 No. 5

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Theresa Ahearn — the totally unacceptable condition of Scoil Carmel, Cashel, County Tipperary, a school for the mildly mentally handicapped; (2) Deputy O'Dea — the action it is proposed to take in view of a decision by the Dublin Circuit Court last October that evidence from professional witnesses following interviews with children in welfare matters cannot be introduced in court; (3) Deputy Ned O'Keeffe — the need to make provision for dairy farmers who have exhausted their milk quota by applying to the EU for a specific derogation to allow milk processed by registered dairies for animal feed to be returned to farmers; (4) Deputy Broughan — the water supply crisis in Fingal and the northern fringe of Dublin city; (5) Deputy Dukes — the progress made in relation to the proposed 120 megawatt peat-fired power station in the northwest Kildare-east Offaly area; (8) Deputy Matt Brennan — the urgent need for a remedial teacher for six national schools in the south Sligo area; (9) Deputy Ó Cuív — the need to review the schemes of grants for people living in remote areas to enable them to attend second-level boarding schools; (10) Deputy Seán Ryan — the decision taken by the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications and Aer Rianta to enter into a third party handling agreement at Dublin Airport from 1 January 1995; (11) Deputy Deasy — the terms of reference of the inquiry into the tragedy last weekend involving a number of canoeists at Dunmore East, County Waterford; (12) Deputy Finucane — the plans, if any, there are to provide an extension for Ballyagran primary school, County Limerick; (13) Deputy O'Rourke — the Government's proposals for Irish Steel; and (14) Deputy Molloy — the serious consequences for transport companies involved in the live export of cattle due to the recently introduced restrictions applying to sea travel direct to continental ports.

The matters raised by Deputies O'Dea, Matt Brennan, Ó Cuív and Deasy have been selected for discussion.
