Vol. 449 No. 5

Written Answers. - Waterford School Disadvantage Status.

Brendan Kenneally

Ceist:

85 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Education if disadvantaged status will be granted to a secondary school (details supplied) in Waterford city in view of the level of disadvantage suffered by many of the pupils in the school; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4074/95]

Since assuming office as Minister for Education I have provided increased resources to improve the educational facilities for schools serving disadvantaged pupils.

Provision has been made for the allocation of, inter alia, additional remedial, guidance and home school links posts to post-primary schools with effect from the beginning of the 1995-96 school year. The position of this school will be considered when these posts are being allocated.
